Need a Life Change?

It used to be that I would wake up and lose the first 15 minutes of each day scrolling through Instagram. Then one morning I stumbled upon a video that made me toss down my phone and jump out of bed.

Rewire my neural pathways? Sign me up, please.

It would be an experiment, I thought. I love the idea of rewiring my brain because whatever I seem to be doing isn’t always working for me.

I get easily overwhelmed, and distracted. Many days it’s hard for me to be productive in any meaningful way.

I needed a change.

The man in the video claimed that these three things had the power to change your life that very day.

Easy enough. If making this a daily practice would make even a small difference, I was game.

Three Daily Practices to Rewire the Brain

These are the three things he mentioned. I have now made these a daily practice.

  1. When you wake up, go straight to the bathroom and brush your teeth with your opposite hand.
  2. Look yourself in the mirror and without breaking eye contact, say, “I love you” ten times. The first time I did this with a big smile because it made me feel happy.
  3. Take 25 strong, exaggerated deep breaths. This will get oxygen into your body and get you activated. The man suggested doing this morning, noon, and night.

Barriers You May Face — And the Solutions

This may seem easy, but sometimes a daily practice falls apart easily once you really get into it. I feel this practice is worth sticking to even if you hit some barriers that make it tricky or uncomfortable. Here’s what I have done to break through.
